What is your most recent book? Tell us a bit about it.
Be The Solution
is a holistic approach to living life more fully. Sharing core principles and an emotional processing technique to liberate and free people.
Grounded in personal experiences, the reader is invited to open to the possibility that there is more to life than we can see. Through the integration of psychological awareness, body wisdom and the flowering of the heart, balance in life is found and spontaneous peace and harmony is born.
This book offers a collection of simple and effective tools and techniques that can be incorporated easily into day to day life to facilitate liberation, promote harmony in relationships and lay the foundations for creating our realities.
It contains a new 7 step emotional processing technique.
So much literature today offers the tools for creation, but without access to our subconscious we may unwittingly block ourselves. Be the Solution offers tools and techniques to learn how to become free from the subconscious beliefs that may keep us stuck.
Tell us something about yourself.
I am English and live in the South West of England. I have 3 wonderful daughters and love my family. In June 2001 my life took a radical shift when I contracted the Flesh Eating Bug and nearly died. A near death experience awakened me to there being more to life than we can see. My recovery led me to Eastern philosophy, I studied meditation, tai chi, chi kung and shiatsu and got gripped by the energy in my body and the world. It fascinated me how past experiences were held in my physical body and as I practiced presence and becoming quiet, I connected with the wealth of wisdom that is available to us all.
I created the 7 step process from a culmination of my experiences and began using it with my clients. To see it working for others was so exciting and I wanted to share it with more people.
What inspired you to write this book?
I wrote one book about 8 years ago, I didn’t set out to write it but it just poured out. It was spiritual in origin and I took everything in it and started to try and live it. I did not try and publish it.
Be The Solution was the next book. I wrote it to share with others the joy that I have found through the tools and techniques within it.
How did you publish this book? Why did you decide to self-publish?
I self-published the book with Lulu.com. I have since sent it to some publishers as well. I self published it so that I could start sharing it with the people that I work with. I have had some wonderful feedback and it’s lovely to hear and see the process in action.
How did you know you wanted to be a writer? How did you get started?
I couldn’t stop myself with this book though. It just felt very right to share the information in it. The most heart-warming thing is that something so tragic for me is now helping other people. I love sharing about energy and expanding awareness, to see people light up as they too expand is awesome.
What do you believe is the hardest part of writing?
For me the hardest part was putting my words out there into the world. My childhood was full of criticism and getting over the gut churning feelings of someone not liking it was quite a battle. I am so glad that I persevered through this though and now it feels like a great accomplishment, but the best bit is other people benefitting.
How do you do research for your books?
The research for this one was my life experience.
Did you learn anything from writing this book? What?
I learned a lot about myself and it was also a good release as revisiting some of the details of the illness was quite emotional. Also my fears of sharing and being criticised. Now I am learning lots about how to get a book out there in the world J
What are you reading now?
Dan Millman – The Life You Were Born to Live.
What types of books do you like to read? Who are your favorite authors? Why?
I love spiritual literature and self development. Dan Millman, Wayne Dyer, Paulo Cohelo, James Redfield, Eckhart Tolle. I also got gripped by the Twilight series last year and couldn’t put them down.
Are you working on your next book? What can you tell us about it?
I am working on 2 more books. One is a more detailed account of my illness. It has a diary that my husband (at the time) kept and shares more of the experience of recovery and coming to terms with a heavily scarred body. I will be including pictures of the extent of the damage and how amazingly my body healed.
The second one is about those moments in life when we suddenly have a profound realisation about something that changes the way we see our lives. This is a collection of short experiences from other people.
What is the best advice you could give other writers about writing or publishing?
If you feel compelled to do it, have a go. There is nothing to lose and everything to gain, especially with the technology these days for self publishing and print to order means there is no need to outlay large amounts of money.
Obviously if you can get a publisher that’s great and means you will reach more people with their marketing expertise.
I think the main thing is don’t give up. A number of very well known books were turned down by many publishers.
What are you doing to promote your latest book?
I am doing some local promotion and have some newspaper and radio coverage booked. I have a website and am promoting this more, as well as writing more articles and posting more videos on you tube. I am just in the process of starting a blog radio post and am planning a teleseminar in line with the work that I do.
I also have a number of local talks lined up and plan to do more speaking engagements.
I am 3 days in to a 30 day video diary around stepping into the flow of life and following the opportunities.
