Actually I have four books out at Amazon/Kindle. There’s “Steel Teeth of Hell vol 1” about a ww2 Sherman tank crew fighting the SS from Normandy, into Russian-held Berlin. It’s Kelly’s Heroes meets the Battle of the Bulge. And the second edition of that same title, but with 40 more pages and more war pics. Then, a look at the behind-the-scenes of pizza delivery, in a corrupt, sex filled, drug-crazed small town I grew up in, so if you order delivery pizza, don’t read this crazy book, “The Pizza Boys” or you’ll want baloney forever. Lastly, The Armies of Darkness are Here tells about myths, legends, stories from around the world, like the discovery of a man’s footprint inside a dinosaur’s that were only hours apart, when I published that article in London, all hell broke loose.
Tell us something about yourself.
I am a native Texan and have been for over 50 years, I have been writing war stories since I was about 12, I am a veteran of both the Air Force, and the Army, and can’t get a job in my own country. Been unemployed for 1 year and I’m starving to death. I need writing work or I will end up dead somewhere pretty soon.
What inspired you to write this book?
I have always been a lover of history, especially world war 2. There will never be another time period like that, this country has gone to hell, and it’s sad and depressing. I loved tanks in those old war movies, that’s why I became a tanker in the 49th Armored at a very old age, just to do it.
How did you choose the title?
The title “Steel Teeth of Hell” means that inside the belly of a 37 ton Beast nicknamed “BETSY”, that war is hell when you are fighting and dying in a steel tank like the Sherman M4.
What obstacles did you encounter in getting this book published? How did you overcome them?
Listening to all the crap told to me by “so-called” publishing houses that are only interested in money. I have yet to find a good publisher for my books. I self-published because I was and still am unemployed, what damn choice do I have?
How did you know you wanted to be a writer? How did you get started?
In school I was always writing wild and funny stories, they became popular and that was it.
Do you have any writing rituals?
Rituals? No, I would like to write with a full stomach just once and wake up happy to be alive.
How do you come up with the names for your characters?
The characters are all people I have known. I am the tank commander in the book.
Did you learn anything from writing and publishing this book? What?
Yea, nobody cares about the veterans and what they did.
If you were doing it all over again, what would you do differently?
Start each day happy, with a full belly of food and some money in my pocket for cigarettes, hell, I just want to write…not starve to death.
What types of books do you like to read? Who are your favorite authors?
I don’t have a favorite author, I write books the way I want to read them, not too technical, like 8 pages to describe something like the sky, or a hammer or something.
Are you working on your next book? What can you tell us about it?
It’s a ww2 story about Balao class submarines fighting in the Pacific, lots of action!
What is the best advice you could give other writers about writing or publishing?
Don’t do it unless you are rich to start with
Who is the perfect reader for your book?
The lover of ww2, history and of course, the veterans. I dedicated the book to them.
Where can readers learn more about you and your book?
