Get Money Now! is the only book published recently that gives the reader 235 different ways to make money quickly, including the advantages, disadvantages and skill sets needed for each job. I also devote two chapters to sharing over a hundred ways the reader can save money on almost everything they buy, can stretch their dollars and have more money at the end of every month.
Tell us something about yourself.
Born shortly after WWII in a seaport Texas town, I watched as my parents scrimped to get by. During my adolescence and young adulthood I learned how to stretch my nickels into quarters and my quarters into dollars. And I’ve been doing that ever since.
What inspired you to write this book?
When I saw signs of our nation heading toward a serious recession, I asked myself, What can I do to help? This book, Get Money Now!, is my answer.
How did you choose the title?
It was short and succinct.
How is your book unique from other books about money?
The other books are mostly about personal finance and budgeting. Get Money Now! is the only book published recently that gives the reader 235 different ways to make money fast, including the advantages, disadvantages, and skill sets needed for each job. My goal is to help shepherd people through the decision-making processes such as:
· Selecting the moneymaking ideas that are right for them
· Setting up their new business
· Marketing their services or products
· And most importantly, keeping their clients or customers returning again and again
What subjects do you discuss other than ways to make money and stretch your dollars?
I’ve included a bonus chapter called Lay-Off Proofing Your Life, written to help those who still have jobs, but it’s also for the currently unemployed – once they find a job. Two chapters are devoted to a hundred+ ways to cut your spending and save your money as well as entire chapters on:
1. How to Start your Business
2. Marketing and Business Goal-Setting
3. Advertising that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg
4. Free Publicity and more
Where did you get the moneymaking ideas for your book?
In addition to research, real-life experience is a great teacher. Many years ago I was handed a pink slip and over the next seven years my three children and I performed more than 70 of the moneymaking ideas included in this book. As a result I was able, not only to keep my bills current, but also to take vacations and eat out several times a week. Since 1969 I’ve also owned seven successful businesses so I was able to draw from my entrepreneurial background.
Why would people want to read your book?
With millions of people currently out of work, employment agencies are swamped with applications. Register with them, but read my book too. You’ll find moneymaking ideas that can put food on the table immediately, pay the bills, and help you get through the hard times. You might actually enjoy the freedom and flexibility of being an entrepreneur so much that you decide to continue working for yourself after the economy turns around.
What obstacles did you encounter in getting this book published? How did you overcome them?
I knew I wanted to self-publish from the beginning so I had no publishing problems.
How did you know you wanted to be a writer? How did you get started?
I owned a private school, two childcare centers and a summer camp for 13+ years. Every time it rained, my teachers and counselors would tell me I should be a writer because I could mesmerize the children with stories that took them all over the globe. When I sold the schools, I acted on their suggestion. Once writing got in my blood, I was hooked forever. Other people who can’t not write know what I mean. Get Money Now! is my second nonfiction book.
Did you learn anything from writing and publishing this book? What?
I never want to write another nonfiction book as big as this one: 335 pgs
What is the best advice you could give other writers about writing or publishing?
Never send your work out when you think it’s ready. Always hire someone to proof it for errors. If you can’t afford to hire someone, read the book backwards, one line at a time. Doing this helps you catch many of your own errors.
Who is the perfect reader for your book?
Although originally written to help those who are suddenly laid off, Get Money Now! has proven to be a resource for anyone who needs money:
· the person whose salary cut is so drastic that he can’t meet his financial obligations
· the teenager who needs to earn money during the summer or the high-school graduate who recently learned he has to put himself through college, etc.
· the elderly person who can’t live on Social Security alone. Most of the moneymaking ideas can be performed part-time or fulltime and dozens are great for the physically homebound and those without a car. I devote an entire chapter to people in these two categories.
Where can our readers pick up a copy of your book?
