My book Rymellan 1: Disobedience Means Death is an anthology of science fiction stories first published on the web. The stories follow two lesbians who live in a strict society that selects mates for its citizens, so it will appeal most to lesbian fiction and science fiction readers.
Tell us something about yourself.
I live in Toronto, Canada, and started writing later in life. When I’m not writing, I’m usually playing computer games, my primary passion.
Why did you decide to self-publish?
I decided to self-publish for the following reasons: I write niche fiction with well-defined target markets, I wanted to learn how to publish a book, I wanted to maintain control over the work because it’s a series, and numerous other reasons related to my personality and goals.
How did you know you wanted to be a writer?
I never wanted to be a writer. It just happened.
What is the hardest part of writing?
For me, writing the first draft is always somewhat painful. I enjoy editing my work more than getting the first draft down.
What types of books do you like to read?
I enjoy reading science fiction & fantasy, mysteries, thrillers, lesbian fiction, and a variety of non-fiction, particularly memoirs, history, and theology.
What are you reading now?
I’m reading several books about medieval life, since I’m currently writing a fantasy novel loosely set in that time period.
What is the best advice you could give other writers about writing or publishing?
Write what you want to write and follow the path that best suits you and your goals.
Where can we buy your book?
