Tell us something about yourself.
My background is actually in the music business and that’s what my first book was about. I moved over into the “mindset” topics after noticing the big difference between successful bands and those who aren’t successful is how they think.
What inspired you to write this book?
I got a short book when I was 16 called “As a Man Thinketh.” It talks about the power of your thoughts and how to make things happen in your life. I wanted to do a similar book that was short and powerful, keeping the price down (it’s only $5), so that everybody can easily afford it.
How did you publish this book? Why did you decide to self-publish?
I self-published as it’s what I have been doing for ten years. At one time, I was doing something for a major publisher, but it takes way too long to get it out. I like the speed and control of self-publishing.
How did you know you wanted to be a writer? How did you get started?
I’m not really a writer. I’m an “idea guy” who puts books together. 🙂
What do you believe is the hardest part of writing?
For me, the writing is the hardest part. Fortunately, I have a couple of editors who help me get my thoughts organized and well-written.
How do you do research for your books?
This book is all my own ideas and philosophy, so there was no research.
Did you learn anything from writing this book? What?
With every book, I get better and better at expressing my ideas in an easy-to-grasp format. I wanted to make this book as simple and easy-to-understand as possible, so I and my team spent a lot of time on getting something complicated down to three easy steps that anybody can follow.
What are you reading now?
Exceptional Service, Exceptional Profit by Leonardo Inghilleri and Micah Solomon
Meditation – An Eight Point Program by Eknath Easwaran
The Vortex – Abraham-Hicks
What types of books do you like to read? Who are your favorite authors? Why?
I like anything having to do with mindset, marketing, and business. Love the classic new thought stuff like Think and Grow Rich or Science of Getting Rich.
Are you working on your next book? What can you tell us about it?
My next book will some “big ideas” for musicians to sell more music, get more people to their live shows, and make more money in the music business.
What is the best advice you could give other writers about writing or publishing?
Think about marketing. Books don’t just sell themselves.
What are you doing to promote your latest book?
I do a lot of interviews. I have a big mailing list, so there is a relationship I can leverage there. We have several web sites, syndicated content, etc. And our promotion is constant. I never stop promoting.
