One of the hardest things to do is to maintain your author platform while also finding time to write.
Thankfully, a number of proven methods exist you can use to automate your book marketing and free up more of your time for writing.
Today I’ll share three of my top methods to boost your author profile automatically. This gives you more time to devote to your creative pursuits or whatever other aspect of self-publishing you wish to focus on.
Boost Your Author Visibility
It’s difficult to stand out in an increasingly crowded book marketplace.
The following three ways of boosting your author profile are examples of doing the work once and reaping the benefits far into the future.
Amazon author central allows you to carve out a small piece of Amazon real estate to call your own. It is a free marketing opportunity that you would be mad not to take up.
SEO Blog Posts
Many authors take the time to set up blogs, but don’t bother to carry out keyword research before writing posts.
This is a mistake. By carrying out basic keyword research, authors ensure their blog will receive organic traffic on an ongoing basis.
Many of the best podcasts for writers are in need of guests for their shows.
By being featured on a podcast, you can strengthen your brand, talk about your products and services, and link out to your content in the show notes.
Podcasts also remain online indefinitely so you receive ongoing benefits from a single appearance.
Use Tools To Free Up Writing Time
Many authors are resistant to using pro writing tools to improve their publishing process and free up more time for writing. However, by using a careful selection of tools, it’s possible to work far more efficiently and free up your time for writing.
ProWritingAid isn’t a replacement for a human book editor.
It is, however, a very powerful editing tool and writing coach.
ProWritingAid is packed full of features such as reports and a style guide suited to the type of writing you are working on. Use it to become a better writer and free up more time to work on your craft.
Pro Book Writing Software
It’s amazing how many writers stick with basic writing software like Google Docs or Microsoft Word.
These may be fine for shorter pieces but are not suited to the unique demands of novels and other longer projects.
These require pro writing software. These apps are designed with full length book projects in mind and they make your life as an author far easier. Scrivener is my personal pick of the lot.
Sometimes, you won’t require writing software as fully-featured as ProWritingAid.
For times like those, such as when contacting my mailing list, I favor something more basic like Grammarly.
It’s more than capable of catching my most glaring errors.
Advertise The Smart Way
I’m a firm believer in advertising, but only when it’s done the right way. My two favorite platforms are –
By advertising on AMS, you benefit by –
*Only paying for clicks
*Reaching book buyers directly
*Having multiple ways to target your ad
I actually put together a full free video course if you want to learn more about AMS.
*Direct traffic to your author website
*Get signups to your mailing list
*Offer a first chapter or book for free
Facebook ads are a great tool when used strategically.
Overall, automating aspects of your author profile to allow yourself more time to write comes down to –
*Establishing permanent online real estate to ensure passive traffic to your author platform’s various elements
*Using pro level tools to improve your process and free up more of your time
*Advertise efficiently to both automate your book sales and boost various other elements of your author platform
