My first book is titled The Power to Never Give Up. In my book, I am transparent about the struggles, challenges, and victories I have faced throughout my life. I discuss topics ranging from disappointment, anger, depression, and bankruptcy.
Tell us something about yourself.
My family and I currently reside in London, Kentucky. I have been married for nearly 17 years and have three wonderful children, two girls and one boy. Each week I take time to visit the elderly in a local nursing home. This is very rewarding for me. My family and I also serve food at the Homeless Shelter on a rotating schedule with our church family.
What inspired you to write this book?
I was inspired to write the book around 2007. My family and I had been through some very difficult financial situations, and I wanted to offer others hope and encouragement that may be struggling in this area. I believe that by being transparent with my life, I can help others to realize that they are not alone in their journey and offer them The Power to Never Give Up.
How did you choose the title?
Actually, my brother helped me decide on the title. I wrestled with several different ideas. When I let him read it before sending it off to be published, he said that it sounds like someone who wouldn’t give up. Thus came the name The Power to Never Give Up.
Did you learn anything from writing and publishing this book? What?
During the writing process and publishing of my book, I began to realize the hard work that it takes to move forward with your book. There are many things that can compete for your attention. Also, once the book is published and marketing begins, there is even more work than originally thought. It brings one out of their comfort zone, but it has been truly rewarding.
If you were doing it all over again, what would you do differently?
If I could change something about my experience, I would have probably written more for the book. I am not much of a reader myself, and I tried to make the size of the book appealing to everyone. It is a simple book to pick up and have read in a couple of hours. This helps for a quick read later on to offer encouragement once again.
What is the best advice you could give other writers about writing or publishing?
When it comes to writing and publishing, it takes time. Don’t give up on the process. Eventually your book will be released, and it is worth the time and effort that you put into it. Also, I am glad that I went with a publishing company. Many people have asked me if they can purchase the book online, and it pleases them that this option is available to them.
Who is the perfect reader for your book?
The perfect reader for my book is anyone who may be facing challenges such as financial, depression, or spiritual. Through my struggles, I share how each one of these areas helped me.
Where can readers learn more about you and your book?
