A 2 Minute Book Marketing Technique Most People Forget

November 12, 2009 by Jeremy Reeves

Marketing books, whether they’re downloadable or in print, can sometimes prove to be a very hard challenge if you’re not used to marketing. So in today’s post I’m going to give you a tip that literally anybody reading these words can do – and the best part is – it only takes 2-5 minutes to start doing!

Even more, when you start doing this it’s also going to increase the power of your website (if you have one) in the search engines because of the backlinks you’ll get from a very trusted source online.

What trusted source am I talking about?

Amazon!

Here’s what you need to do.

Head on over to Amazon and find the category that your book would be under. And no, if your book is downloadable it doesn’t matter – this will still work.

What you’re going to do is find that category and start looking at books similar to yours but not competing, and simply start leaving as many comments as you can! Of course you’ll want to include a link to YOUR book.

Maybe one thing you can do is talk about a specific subject in which one of those books fell short of the mark and mention how your book talks more in-depth about that subject which would help the reader out more.

Either way, what you’re going to want to do is provide true unique value for the people who will be reading those comments. Since you have your link you want to prove yourself to be an authority on the subject instead of just another person trying to get their name out there.

And of course, the last thing you’ll need is a call to action. Instead of simply adding a link you can put something like “check out ‘website here’ for tips on ‘whatever it is that you’re selling'”.

That pushes people a little further and gives them more information – which is especially important when your domain name doesn’t exactly describe what your website or book is about!
