Therese Benedict – Days Go By, Not Love

What is your most recent book? Tell us a bit about it.

My most recent book is called Days Go By, Not Love. It was published by Tate Publishing and released on May 11, 2010. www.DaysGoBy

Days Go By, Not Love is a spiritual self-help book that helps you identify the beginning steps to changing your life. It is a book that helps you find the inner and true you: fully. It helps you see the wrongs that not only others are doing but it helps you see your wrongs that you are committing. It gives you the answers to help you change those actions and live your life with more beauty and less cruelty. This book helps you open your eyes to what you have not seen within yourself. It is a book about how to love you right and others right. It brings insight to a deeper meaning of the word love.

Tell us something about yourself.

I have always known ever since I was a young girl that I was special and that I was here to help people. I could see and feel others pain within my soul. When others would do cruel actions that caused hurt to another, I seemed to know the answers and exactly how to respond to bring comfort in the hearts of those in pain or struggling. Even as a young child I always knew the answers between right and wrong and followed upon that intuitive guidance.

I love to help people! It is in my soul to bring peace and love to anyone who wants not to live a life of pain and confusion. I love seeing the peace and comfort in their eyes when they start to heal from their hurt and understanding of the hurt they caused. I love making this world a better place for us all.

How did you choose the title?

I was told what the title would be from a spirit that I was communicating with a year before I even wrote the book. I have always wanted to write, but it was not until 4 years ago that I was told to write my first book.

What inspired you to write this book?

Watching people hurt and suffer when there is a way out. By seeing others hurt their loved ones because they do not know how to love right. From watching cruelty take over this world while the love seems to diminish and knowing that there are so many people searching for answers for freedom from their pain.

What obstacles did you encounter in getting this book published? How did you overcome them?

I really did not encounter any obstacles with my book being published. When I was told to write my book I wrote it: within two weeks – with the guidance of what to write and the amount of the information needed for the first steps to change oneself.

Once the book was completed and I needed editing, I met my (future) husband who was an editor. When the book was done being edited the time came for needing an illustrator / graphic designer…than an opportunity arose for my husband’s friend and former co-worker, Rik Boberg, to where he was able to have the time to design a beautiful layout for my book proposal. Once the book proposal was completed my husband sent it to four publishers. And within 42 minutes of the proposal being submitted Tate Publishing contacted me stating that they wanted my book and that they would send a contract out that night for publication.

But it didn’t stop there…When I needed a few head shots for my book, Bruce Talbot, an amazingly talented photographer offered to do a photo shoot. When my husband and I were at the photo shoot we were talking about how we wanted to renew our vows in Santorini, Greece and how that would be the perfect background for the book cover. Timely enough, Bruce had recently traveled there for a photo shoot and had the most elegant photo of a sunset over Santorini which was perfect for the book cover.

I listen to every thing that I am asked to do from God and I do everything with no fighting or questions. Once I am finished with what is being asked of me to do, God brings me the next step to help complete the task at hand. I am doing this for him and he brings me everything that I need so it may be accomplished.

How did you know you wanted to be a writer? How did you get started?

I got started by the angels telling me to write a book. However, I was given only the words for the beginning steps for people to change their life. If I gave them too much information, it would only be confusing because of the amount of knowledge there is to help them change their lives. So, I was only allowed to write a portion of what others needed to know so they could succeed in their change of life.

Do you have any writing rituals?

The only ritual I have is listening to God and his angels of the words to write.

Did you learn anything from writing and publishing this book? What?

Yes, my husband and I have learned a tremendous amount of knowledge on how to market my book, which in turn has helped me reach a broader audience and help more people.

If you were doing it all over again, what would you do differently?

I would not want to do anything different. It has been nothing but an amazing journey of learning.

What types of books do you like to read? Who are your favorite authors? Why?

I have not been able to read a book for years. However, there are so many wonderful authors that I can mention, here are a few: Doreen Virtue, Dr. Wayne Dyer and Eckhart Tolle. I admire any authors who bring insight to help people find peace within their lives or knowledge of spirituality. It is so important for us to cherish the love that we have and to receive it, for that is what everyone is searching for – a love that they can trust.

Are you working on your next book? What can you tell us about it?

Yes, I am finishing the second book of the Days Go By, Not Love (four-book series). This book will be the continuing knowledge in your steps of change, while bringing more insight at a deeper depth of knowledge.

What is the best advice you could give other writers about writing or publishing?

The best advice I could give other writers is not to put a time line on reaching their goals and to take the time they need with the willingness to learn as much as they can. With understanding that it can be hard leaning in so many directions but to take that knowledge and to keep going no matter how stressful it can get because it will come to you as long as you do not give up.

Who is the perfect reader for your book?

The readers for this book are the people who are searching for happiness and to find a way out of their misery. This book is for those who wish to change their lives with success and want to make changes within them who are struggling on their own.
