Michelle Murray – Author Interview

What is your most recent book? Tell us a bit about it.

The title of my book is called “I Will Hold You In My Heart Forever… A baby book for little angels” I created this baby book because I lost my firstborn son Tyler when he was only seven weeks old and I was unable to find a baby book special enough to keep all of his memories in one place. This book provides families who have experienced the loss of a baby whether through miscarriage, stillbirth or infant death, the opportunity to create a baby book tailored specifically to their own situation. This book will allow them to work through their grief and they will be able to treasure it and look back on it for years to come. This book is full of cute pictures and inspirational poems. Chapters include pregnancy moments, family tree, showers, hospital stay, funeral details, final resting place, journal pages to write down feelings and folders to store sympathy cards and other precious keepsakes. They will be able to add or remove pages as they lovingly fill out the sections that apply to their little angel.

Who inspired you to write this book?

My one true inspiration is my son Tyler. I always wanted to do something in his memory. He was born on January 21st 2006 and lived for just seven precious weeks. He was born with a severe heart condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. To be able to provide this book to other parents who have been through a loss as well means so much to me.

How did you publish this book?

I decided to self publish this book because it is so near and dear to my heart. I also wanted family and friends to be able to have a direct impact on the book. My sister-in-law is the graphic designer and the printing company is a close family friend. I also have had a lot of support from both sets of parents, my brother and my husband Jason. My publishing company is called Forever Heart Publishing.

Did you learn anything from writing this book? What?

I have learned that there are far too many parents out there who have lost a baby. Many parents have gone on my webpage to share their angel’s stories with me. There is a certain a certain comfort that bereaved parents have with each other. It is a shared connection in knowing what it is like to lose a child.

b>What is the best advice you could give other writers about writing or publishing?

One of the things that really helped me was reading the book called. “How to Self Publish in Canada” by Suzanne Anderson. She really provided step-by-step instructions and also the background knowledge information needed to be able to publish your own book. However my best advice would be to “Go For It!” It was a dream of mine and I am so happy that it is coming true.

What are you doing to promote your latest book?

Currently I have a website as well as a Facebook page dedicated to the book. I am in the process of contacting numerous organizations, hospitals, support groups and funeral homes. I will also be writing articles that I hope to have published in newspapers and would also like to appear on some television shows as well.
