The book is called Marriage: What’s the Point? and it was written while walking a path marked by tragedy, despair, hopelessness, desperation, transformation, reconciliation, and complete Holy Spirit saturation. This is a story of restoration….God’s specialty!” Our hope for restored marriages rests in our willingness to be individually “transformed” by God. This book reaches past the boundaries of marriage and into the depths of who we are. Take the journey!
Tell us something about yourself.
I grew up in North East Ohio and now live in the Tampa Bay area of Florida with my wife Kara and our two children; Rylie and Kailyn. I have worked full time as a Firefighter/Paramedic for 7 years.
I served with a local ministry called operation light force for a number of years where I was a prayer minister. The ministry focused on the commission Jesus gave all of us being: heal the sick, cast out demons and preach the gospel. I, along with the rest of the ministry team, spent many hours with many different people exploring and exposing the deep roots of emotional pain and wounds. As the roots of pain and wounds were uncovered, I saw the power of God move in their lives as they began the process of healing. As I saw the “desperate” getting set free and transformed, I also saw them healed of different diseases, sicknesses and infirmities. I also have personal testimonies of healing in myself and my children as a result of exposing roots and deliverance ranging from incurable plantar fasciitis to complete healing of “pink eye” in less than 12 hours on multiple occasions in my children. I have also have experience as a conference speaker and conference prayer minister for operation light force.
I wrote “Marriage What’s the Point” after tragedy brought my world down around me. As my wife and I walked the path of healing together God radically transformed both of our lives. The book is a testimony and documentation of revelation received along the journey.
Recently God has called us in another direction away from operation light force and onto a journey. As we were spending some time with the Lord he spoke the name “Reflect Ministries” and that is the name we are now operating under together. We now minister together as God leads us. Our passion is to see people become desperate enough to be completely set free.
What inspired you to write this book?
My marriage experienced the tragedy of infidelity. As I walked through this I began to question God about the purpose of marriage. I wondered why marriage seemed so important to God. Why should we expose ourselves to, potentially, the most horrible pain we can ever experience? Why are so many marriages empty and emotionally dead? The book is a testimony of our journey of healing and through these disturbing questions.
How did you choose the title?
The title is the question I asked God so it seemed fitting! It was the question my soul was screaming and I don’t think I’m the only one asking that question.
How did you know you wanted to be a writer? How did you get started?
A couple of years ago I had the thought “I think I will write a book someday.” Even then I could never imagine I would ever do it. This book is my first attempt at writing. I started by journaling my way through the pain and it just morphed into a book as God led.
What types of books do you like to read? Who are your favorite authors? Why?
I have been reading a lot of Frank Peretti. I love the stories. He is an awesome story teller and there is incredible value in his work because he works in themes that we all should be living by. They are good, clean books. I also loved Carlos Annocondias book “Listen to me Satan!.” Powerful testimonies of Satan being defeated and the name of Jesus lifted high!
What is the best advice you could give other writers about writing or publishing?
Don’t be afraid of rejection. You may have a powerful story to tell that would help many people. Nobody will ever benefit from it if you don’t share it.
