Jackie Carpenter – Author Interview

What is your most recent book? Tell us a bit about it.

I have published 1 book and the name of it is: The Bridge: Between Cell Block A and a Miracle Is: Psalm 91

It is based on the true story of my son Jason Veitch who was falsely accused of Felony Murder. It takes the readers through the actual Murder Trial and down the road of utter helplessness and despair endured by our family and the strong faith that brought us to a place of Victory.

Tell us something about yourself.

I am a small town girl born and raised in Newnan, Georgia. At age 35 I found myself divorced and raising 2 boys while working as an Administrative Assistant at Newnan Hospital. Newnan Hospital was in a Joint Venture with Larry Carpenter for Mobile MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) service. Newnan Hospital got their MRI and I got remarried to Larry Carpenter. Worked out great for both parties. He has been a “Rock” for me as well as my 2 sons.

What inspired you to write this book?

2 months following Jason’s Murder Trial, while working at my desk God started dealing with me regarding the Miracle that we had received in court. That Miracle was a Non-Guilty Verdict. God inspired the entire book. I felt like God’s Secretary. He dictated, I typed.

How did you choose the title?

God gave me the Title before he gave me the Book. He asked me the question; Jackie, what was the worst part of this ordeal? I said God, that would be when Jason was incarcerated for 9 days. He then asked me; Jackie, what was the best part of this ordeal? I said, God, that would be when we got our Miracle. He then said, Jackie, what is that “Bridge” that joins the worst to the best, and it hit me like a ton of bricks, I cried, Oh God, that would be Psalm 91 God’s Shield of Protection that I had been claiming for Jason for 10 months. He said, now lets start the book.

What obstacles did you encounter in getting this book published? How did you overcome them?

The main obstacle that I had to overcome was Satan trying to stop the book from getting published. He constantly tried to shut me down, computer wise, and every way that he could think of. It was my dedication to God that gave me the endurance not to give up until it was published.

How did you know you wanted to be a writer? How did you get started?

I never dreamed of being a writer, but God had other plans, so I am at His mercy.

Do you have any writing rituals?

My writing ritual would be staying in prayer and praying for God’s guidance otherwise I am not much.

Did you learn anything from writing and publishing this book? What?

If you will empty yourself out and open yourself up, God will surely use you.

If you were doing it all over again, what would you do differently?

I would not change anything.

What types of books do you like to read? Who are your favorite authors? Why?

The Bible is my favorite, especially the book of Psalms. God is also my favorite Author. I also love inspirational books. Peggy Ruth Joyce, Author of Psalm 91/God’s Shield of Protection is one of my favorites.

Are you working on your next book? What can you tell us about it?

God is not through with me yet. I continue to open myself up and He continues to use me. The name of my next book is: “Weeping Only Lasts For The Night.” It is a continuation of The Bridge, but geared more toward the “Faith Building” Aspect of The Bridge.

What is the best advice you could give other writers about writing or publishing?

I am no authority to give advice to other writers. I would just say “write from your heart”…and it will be felt by others.

Who is the perfect reader for your book?

Anyone in need of a Miracle or Inspiration in their life. I would also love to get my book into the hands of our Military and Military Families. Who needs God’s Shield of Protection Psalm 91; on their life any more than they? People today do not help in their life, they need Miracles. My book will set their path in the right direction to finding their Miracle.
