Fabio R. de Araujo – Author Interview

What is your most recent book? Tell us a bit about it.

2012: The Year of the Changes. Prophecies about Barack Obama, Vladimir Putin, Other Leaders, and the United States. It’s a compilation of prophecies from different sources and countries about Barack Obama, Vladimir Putin, and other leaders. There are also a few prophecies about the US and Russia. Never before in history has a US President been so much predicted and I mean both authentic and fabricated prophecies. Fabricated prophecies were created in the last years, even before his election in 2008. Authentic prophecies are much older, tens or hundreds of years old.

Tell us something about yourself.

I’m a Brazilian Historian, born in Rio de Janeiro. I’m married to an Italian and I lived a few years in Europe. I had a few books published in the US, one published in Brazil and one in Germany.

What inspired you to write this book?

I began to find prophecies that surprisingly seemd to be about Barack Obama. After 2-3 authentic prophecies, I thought I had to write something about it. Maybe never before in history any American was so predicted so this makes this a curious moment. A similar thing happens to Putin. In 2012 we are going to have elections in Russia and in the US. Maybe this year will definitively change the future.

How did you know you wanted to be a writer? How did you get started?

I never wanted. I had a kind of premonition about 20 years ago. That event impressed me a lot. A few months after that premonitory event, I heard a kind of powerful voice inside my mind telling me to write about the future. The voice was so strong I answered loud – how can I write about something I don’t know? Then I began to save money to travel and visit libraries in different countries. I learned languages to read books of prophecies. I bought hundreds of books, including rare books. I just tried to obey the “command.” I know this sounds ridiculous, but this is how it happened. I just tried to obey “the thing.” English is not even my first language and all my books need to be carefully edited and sometimes rewritten.

How do you do research for your books?

I have been researching this subject for 20 years. I visited libraries. I read many books in different languages.

Did you learn anything from this research? What?

Yes. In the beginning I thought that maybe prophets who lived in the past had similar premonitory experiences and what they predicted about the future could be truth. So my mind was very open to any kind of prophecy. After years researching, I realized that maybe about 95% of the prophecies are just studies on past prophecies, are fabrications, are misinterpretations, in other words, they are wrong and are not real. There are a small number which are real prophecies and do happen even if not always accurately.

What are you reading now?

At this moment, I have here on my table International Economics by Paul Krugman, Politics Among Nations by Hans Morgenthau, The Savvy Author’s Guide to Book Publicity by Lissa Warren, and the Planet of the Apes, by Pierre Boulle.

What types of books do you like to read?

Prophecy, international relations, and history books in general.

Was your book about 2012 already published?

It will be published in November 2010. It can be pre-ordered at Barnes and Noble website.

What are you doing to promote your latest book?

Interviews, articles, and I’m in contact with publicists, including Paul Krupin.

Where can readers learn more about your book?

About this special moment we are living. Few moments in history have been so much predicted. People don’t have idea about the moment they are living. It’s a special moment and a moment of change. This things happening right now in economy are not going to take just a couple of years. They came to stay. It’s part of a change that is beginning. It’s much more than we imagine. The Maya civilization calendar ended in 2012. It doesn’t mean the end of the world, but as the Mayan priests said, this means a change or maybe the beginning of a new age. We will understand this better in the 2050s, maybe, that this was indeed the beginning of a new age. I’m sorry people can’t see it now.
