Digvijaya Rau – Towards Beyond

What is your most recent book? Tell us a bit about it.

Towards Beyond is my most recent book. Like the name suggests it is about reaching the horizons of experience and going beyond. It is a 90 page, 41 poem book that is inspiring and turns your mood towards positivity. Towards Beyond could have been renamed Towards Happiness quite naturally

Tell us something about yourself.

I studied in India’s commercially largest city, Mumbai (Bombay). Currently I reside in Nagpur (literally – City of Cobras). It is a peaceful part of the world, inspite of the name. I have been writing the poems that feature in this book for over 10 years. I have been a professional writer for over 6 years.

What inspired you to write this book?

That is a good question. I like to think nature authored this book with me as a medium. Most of the poems were created in moments of inspiration. This is why most of the poems have taken less that a minute to create. It’s true!

How do your poems come about?

It is a happening, that isn’t a result of my will-power. The poems come about through natural inspiration.

How did you choose the title?

Like most of the words/elements in the poems, the title has chosen itself in consonance with the themes of the poetry enshrined in the book.

What obstacles did you encounter in getting this book published? How did you overcome them?

I did not encounter any real obstacles in getting the book published. Publishing with Createspace has been a breezy affair.

How did you know you wanted to be a writer? How did you get started?

I knew I wanted to write for a living when bright people started suggesting it to me.

Do you have any writing rituals?

I do, and I follow them some of the time. They are mostly meant to concentrate my writing of the main idea of the writing. The rituals include focusing my mind onto words that describe the writing that is to follow.

If you were doing it all over again, what would you do differently?

I would concentrate more on the marketing.

What types of books do you like to read? Who are your favorite authors?

I like to read spiritual fiction. Carlos Castaneda and Charles Dickens are two of my favorite authors.

Are you working on your next book? What can you tell us about it?

I am working on my next book. It is about inner spiritual power that comes out of fervent practice.
