Perhaps, however, they will give you a chuckle, or a nod of recognition, along with the knowledge that you aren’t the only one going through this.

    A new beginning:
    The screen is blank, awaiting
    words that will not come

    Dark clouds fill my day
    UPS brings boxes of
    coffee-stained returns

    My joy knows no bounds.
    Boxes piled high, toward the sky–
    My first book in print!

    The bills keep coming
    While payments creep in like snails.
    Publish and perish

    Tell me a story
    Make me think and change my life
    I will buy your book
