Among an author’s team members, the most logical publishing industry professional to hire as a book shepherd or project manager is the book’s publicist.
When an author makes her publicist her shepherd, the author can be saved from her own mistakes. Publicists are more effective when they are allowed to direct a project early on enough to insure its marketability.
